That purchase is the first sign of any hope for the Everglades in, well, maybe ever. Everything before this was... baby steps, and mostly political, which this is too but... Restoring the sheet flow from Okeechobee is a REAL step in restoring the river. Which means I don't believe it will happen. But hey! It might!

http://cnnwire.blogs.cnn.com/2008/06/24/everglades-restoration-gets-boost/

So I am sitting at my computer peaceably perusing my Stargate collection while debating whether life on the streets would indeed be a worse fate that writing the open memo, when one of the cats - the animal I only have because he would have died without round the clock nursing for...well, MONTHS - leaps gracefully up onto the desk (which is when I should have known there was going to be trouble, he's only graceful when he's causing problems. I have seen this cat trip walking across level tile), neatly snatches up my stapler, and darts away into the kitchen with it for a brisk game of soccer. Then, while I am trying to catch him and thinking bad thought, MANAGES TO LOOSE IT UNDER THE STOVE. Where I cannot get it either without hauling the entire thing out from the wall (or playing pinball with all these strange things hanging down under it between which objects always gracefully slide in...and never reemerge). ARGH - HOW IS THIS ANIMAL NOT A MENACE???

This probably does not mean much to most of you, but a few of you have met the kitten in question. I have only one word for his fluffy whiteness if he comes out from under the bed anytime between now and when I actually manage to retrieve my office supplies: Muff

"How is the open memo any different from the closed memo if she is going to send around a list of cases we had better include? What is the point of all my hours of agonizing research? Why should my slacker classmates get a boost when I haven't slept in 2 weeks? This isn't an open memo! Its the closed memo on crack!"

-paraphrase of a concerned fellow classmates rant about the comparative values of a set of projects and their proper place in the cosmos. It went on for quite awhile really. I just nodded.

This is pretty shocking guys, but I'm not only posting twice in a month, but twice in a day! I must be feverish *solemnly* Actually, after the events described below, I probably am.

I'm moving out of my parents house in 2 months for what will probably be good and mother has gotten ...clingy. Today she says 'lets go shopping!' which she followed immediately with a guilt trip that continued until I dragged myself to the car. Lets fast forward to the point where I and mother have mothers brand new SUV (2 wheel drive only) sunk to mid wheel in the middle of a old backwoods cemetery. We won't go into the whys *dryly*. So I'm trying to find something on the grounds to wedge under the tires to help give us traction, moms flipping out, the ground is a swamp (which I would have pointed out but I was too busy trying to help her dodge tombstones... mom and sense don't always mesh so hot) and this lovely cemetery that we are destroying with tire tracks is supposed to be the site of a community reenactment tomorrow... Lets skip ahead again to the point where I am covered in mud, freezing, and stuck with is now is also the community service truck that tried to pull us out. Now there are 4 people and 2 vehicles stuck in the cemetery up to their calves in grave mud... Eventually this guy in a massive 4x4 Ford something drove by, then backed down the road to get a better look at the scene. The laughed himself sick for twenty minutes, before hooking a chain to the various vehicles and dragging us all up to solid (more or less) ground. Destroying the other half of the cemetery in the process. We went to Lowes and about bought them out of mulch, which we drug back to the scene of the crime and I spent the rest of the afternoon trying to repair the damage with. In my pajamas. What did you do today?

An update! How ...unexpected! *amused*

So this week:

-Drove from Dallas to Tallahassee
-Signed a lease for the Fall
-Toured the Law School (which was great! )
-Ironed out most of my Financial Aid (I hope)
-Wore a strapless violet evening gown in public *wide eyed*
-Got Alyssa safely married off, while she was wearing my Ipod clipped to her garter *beams*
-we also got professional wedding photos of the bride (in her wedding dress) and I (in my lovely violet gown) going at it with lightsabers on the church lawn. The photographer seemed a little exasperated, but the wedding party was amused.
-Purchased a domain *dubiously*
-Drove back to Dallas (900 miles, wheeee!) -actually en route, spending the night in Vicksburg

And I'm still in a good mood (or just flying on caffieine, hard to say) which can be easily seen from all the exclamation points -despite that the fake nails I glued on for the ceremony cause me to contantly hit the wrong keys while typing *growls* I'm peeling them off the second after my mother is done admiring them *dryly*

I am officially admitted to FSU School of Law for the Fall 2007 semester!

Since this was my number 1 pick for law school I will probably not bother with the rest of my pending applications. They only had my completed application 2 days before they called me about it, and they called at absolutely the worst moment at work. We were in the middle of our walk in clinic. I had a dog tied to one ankle (waiting for its owner to show back up since it screamed in a kennel) 2 rooms running I needed to be in and a vicious chihuahua pinned under one arm for my colleague to vaccinate and was talking to the doctor about an emergency that had just shown up when the receptionist stuck her head in the back room and said line 2 was for me. She left before I could tell her I wasn't able to get the phone, so I grabbed it with my free hand and viola! Instant joy! I was so happy the rest of the day that no one at work is talking to me anymore *blissfully*

What a Beautiful Day...

So ...I've been working on my LJ today. I deleted about half my postings in an effort to clean up so I can find things. The problem was that when I first started this the year was set at 2025, which was amusing as all get out then, and considerably less so as time went on and I tried to organize. Thus they all became trash. I can't imagine this bothering anyone *dryly* but if anyone needs to know who won some odd contest back in 2004/2025 on my LJ drop me an email and I'm sure I can remember the result ...or at least make up a credible answer.

In REAL news! My new guitar showed up!!! I am really excited and happy about this. It's beautiful, and considerably less expensive than my older guitar. This way when someone not paying attention slams a car trunk on my padded (not hard) case, I can just give them an evil look instead of contemplating homocide, and my much-more-painful-financially-to-replace instrument can enjoy a life of never leaving my bedroom. Everyone wins! I'm working my way through an inch thick pile of classical arraingements my instructor and I decided on and Speed of Sound. It's going really well, though my hands are killing me and I can't feel the ends of my fingers on my left hand at all this week. Every class I'll play through a few pieces and my teacher will look at me and say "You think it's all coming back to you? You sound like you're getting it all back." and I give him a 'look'. All new skills baby, I didn't learn squat when I was fifteen.

More important real news though, is probably that TCC FINALLY COUGHED MY TRANSCRIPT UP TO LSAC. It only took them 3 freaking months. I thought I was going to cry when I logged in and it said 'transcript recieved: yes'. It has quite possibly already cost me admission to my top pick law school, but at least now I can actually apply and find out. This means I have to make a final decision on which other schools I am applying too ...as in by Sunday night. You would think that having 3 extra months I would have this all ironed out, but it was like an impossible dream that TCC and I would resolve our differences and I honestly doubted they would send my transcript at all. The drama behind that is long and not really something I want to hash out here, suffice to say I submitted 8 requests over 3 months, including hand delivered ones and certified mail, and they are just that incompetent. At one point the nice lady flat out told me they threw my request(s) away because I had a hold on my record. I DIDN'T HAVE A HOLD ON MY RECORD. And they didn't tell me about it during our multiple and protracted phone conversations because it was my reposibility to know about said non-existent hold. *takes breath, drops rant* But its all over now. The world is a wonderful place again. Well, it will be when I make the final decisions. I'm thinking about just writing school names I think I want to attend on index cards, dropping them on the floor, and applying to the ones my cat walks on.

Too bad it's never gonna happen.

Of all the types, you have to be one of the hardest to find fault in. You have a selfless and caring nature. You're a good listener and someone who wants to avoid conflict. You genuinely desire to do good.

Of course, these all add up to an incredibly overpowered conscience which makes you feel guilty and responsible when anything goes wrong. Of course, it MUST be your fault EVERYTIME.

Though you're constantly on a mission to find the truth, you have no use for hard facts and logic, which is a source of great confusion for those of us with brains. Despite this, in a losing argument, you're not above spouting off inaccurate fact after fact in an effort to protect your precious values.

You're most probably a perfectionist, which in this case, is a bad thing. Any group work is destined to fail because of your incredibly high standards.

Disregard what I said before. You're just easy to find fault in as everyone else!

Luckily, you're generally very hard on yourself, meaning I don't need to waste my precious time insulting you. Instead, just find all your own faults and insult yourself.

*****************

If you want to learn more about your personality type in a slightly less negative way, &check out this.

*****************

The other personality types are as follows...
&Loner - Introverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving
&Pushover - Introverted Sensing Feeling Judging
&Criminal - Introverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving
&Borefest - Introverted Sensing Thinking Judging

&Freak - Introverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging
&Loser - Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving
&Crackpot - Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging

&Clown - Extraverted Sensing Feeling Perceiving
&Sap - Extraverted Sensing Feeling Judging
&Commander - Extraverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving
&Do Gooder - Extraverted Sensing Thinking Judging
&Scumbag - Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Perceiving
&Busybody - Extraverted iNtuitive Feeling Judging
&Prick - Extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving
&Dictator - Extraverted iNtuitive Thinking Judging

Link: The Brutally Honest Personality Test
(OkCupid Free Online Dating)
